Our Story

Ming Kee Chicken Rice was founded in 1985 by Mr. Tan Ming Kee, who learned the art of Hainanese chicken rice from his father in Hainan, China. After immigrating to Singapore in the 1970s, he spent years perfecting his recipe before opening his first stall in Toa Payoh.

What started as a small hawker stall has grown into one of Singapore’s most beloved chicken rice destinations. Our secret lies in the careful selection of ingredients, traditional cooking methods, and our family’s homemade chili sauce recipe that has been passed down through three generations.

Today, Ming Kee is run by the third generation of the Tan family, who continue to uphold the same standards of quality and authenticity that made us famous. We’re proud to serve both locals and tourists who seek an authentic taste of Singapore.
